Position: Communication Officer

About the organisation

Cyprus Family Planning Association (CFPA) is a Non-profit, Non-Governmental (NGO) in Cyprus, with a rich and ongoing contribution to society, health, education, and human rights. The Association defends, protects, and advocates for the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) of all women, men, and young people, and exercises a leading role in SRHR, through the work of its committed, competent and skilled volunteers and staff. CFPA is an Accredited member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) European Network, and envisions a world where sexuality is expressed and enjoyed in freedom, equality, respect, and love.

The Association is seeking a motivated, experienced and socially conscious Communication Officer to strengthen its public visibility, raise awareness, and support CFPA’s mission to advance SRHR in Cyprus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communication strategies aligned with CFPA’s mission and vision, and current project priorities in collaboration with other staff members.
  • Manage CFPA’s social media accounts (currently Facebook, Instagram, potentially expanding to other platforms), including developing content, planning, posting, monitoring, and community engagement.
  • Review the CFPA’s website, develop content and update on a regular basis.
  • Support advocacy campaigns through the development of press releases, statements, and media briefs; establish and maintain relationships with media.
  • Research and collect information needed for the development of communication context and content.
  • Organize and coordinate public events and activities, workshops, and awareness-raising activities, including visual materials and promotional content.
  • Monitor communication analytics and prepare reports on outreach, engagement, and campaign impact.
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels.
  • Collaborate closely with other staff, volunteers and partners to highlight achievements, stories, and project results.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and monitoring of projects.
  • Collaborate with other staff members for the smooth implementation of activities and the daily operation.
  • Maintain regular communication with partners, donors and beneficiaries, ensuring that all relevant information and communication about projects and related aspects are passed on promptly.
  • Develop and maintain information systems, such as records of activities, training, materials database, contacts database, etc.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

  • A First level University degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Communications, Media, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field will be considered an advantage.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in communication, media, public relations, digital marketing or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing social media platforms and producing engaging digital content.
  • Experience in writing for diverse audiences (public, press, partners).

Core Competencies & Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, including high quality written communication, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt easily, work collaboratively as a team worker and take initiatives.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex SRHR topics in accessible, respectful, and evidence-based ways will be considered an advantage.
  • Excellent ability to manage own time effectively, in a multi-task environment.
  • Capable of working under pressure and observing and reaching strict deadlines.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Greek and English language (oral and written).
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Windows™ & Office Tools (Word™, Excel™, PowerPoint™, Outlook™).
  • Basic graphic design, photography, or multimedia creation skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Ability to manage social media tools and analytics dashboards.

Additional Assets

  • Experience working with NGOs, youth-focused programmes, media, gender equality, human rights, or SRHR.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, events, or trainings.

  • One-year contract with the possibility of extension.  The first six (6) months constitute a probation period.
